Yesterday, U.S. Representative Thaddeus G. McCotter filed the maximum 2000 petition signatures required to seek Michigan’s 11th Congressional District seat.
Rep. McCotter spent filing day the same way he spends every day – working hard for the people of Michigan. While managing the GOP’s time under the House’s Committee of the Whole, his resolution honoring the late Ernie Harwell was sent to the full House.
I called Thaddeus to tell him I was putting together this email and asked what he’d like me to convey. I had to write fast to capture exactly what he said:
“We live in a time of war and recession, and our Michigan is especially hard hit. But we are a resilient community; and we will transcend these difficult times. If again honored to be entrusted as our community’s voice in Congress, I will continue fighting to promote our economy, security and liberty; and to defend and enhance our cherished way of life.”
That is the Rep. McCotter I know. His thoughts are always of the community, and the honor of the job he has been given. He was was elected to Congress in 2002 and is currently serving his fourth term. In 2006, he was elected by his colleagues to national House leadership to serve as the Republican House Policy Chair.
But regardless of the recognition he receives, he is always thinking first of the people back home.
I am working hard for McCotter, because I know how hard he is working for us. I hope you will consider joining us, in whatever way you can, to keep a good, hard-working man in Washington.
